SIESU York Pride, Lord of the Rings & Bivvy

30 June 2019

The South Ingleborough Unit had a busy month in June with three major events. Demonstrating their commitment to inclusion and diversity, it was encouraging to see six of the Explorers and two leaders joining the County contingent at the York Pride event.

This was closely followed by an overnight marathon, the aim of which was to watch all of ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ films back to back! This was a farewell event in recognition of the Reid family, who are all actively involved in Scouting in Settle but are returning to New Zealand at the end of term.

Finally, the Unit enjoyed a walk to Knight Stainforth Campsite where they set up a bivvy, made supper and overnighted in the fresh air before rising at 6am, cooking breakfast, packing up and walking the three miles back to Settle. Wow! What an amazing month for these energetic youngsters!
