Drill Hall Kitchen Grand Opening

31 May 2019

Recently, Settle Scout Group’s AGM marked a major achievement in the Group’s development plan for the Drill Hall. Thanks to an anonymous legacy and a huge effort to deliver the initial stage of their mammoth project, the Group revealed their new state of the art kitchen and toilets to the public. Available for outside bookings, the facilities will be a valuable community asset which it is hoped will bring in much needed income for the Group.

The celebratory event began with a Treasure Hunt around the town for youth members, followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony performed by Anne Foster, a building trustee, David Staveley, Craven District Councillor, and John Diggles, past President of Settle Rotary who designated the project as his named charity, as well as youth representatives.

Tea and cakes prepared by supporters, as well as the Settle Explorers as part of a Bake-Off challenge, were enjoyed by all before the formalities of the AGM followed. The Chair, Cherry Flitcroft, reported that it had been a good year, but not without its challenges. However, huge strides have been made.

Glowing reports from all three section leaders gained loud applause. All the existing committee members were re-elected and a new Cub Parent Rep, Lotti Hopkins, was welcomed to the executive.
