North Yorkshire County Scout Council embraces
the largest geographical area in England. Ingleborough District, which
is one of the 14 Districts in the County, has two Scout Groups, as well
as District Explorer Scout Units based in Ingleton and Settle. In both
locations trained voluntary Leaders and Section Assistants offer a distinctive
programme of outdoor activities, cultural events, community support and
leadership opportunities, as well as games and challenges, to youngsters
who meet as a Section. Each Scout Group, which consists of one or more
Sections, is run by an Executive Committee consisting of a Chairman, Secretary,
Treasurer, Section Representatives and others with specific responsibilities
who support the Leaders.
The Scouting programme always aims to be relevant and attractive; easy
to operate; progressive and accessible appealing to a wide range of young
people; meaningful and fulfilling; safe and enjoyable.
The Scout Law is:

- A Scout belongs to the worldwide family of
Scouts

- A Scout makes good use of time and is careful
of possessions and property
- A Scout has self-respect and respect for others
The Scout Promise is:
On my honour, I promise that I will do my best, to do my duty to God and
the Queen, to help other people and to keep the Scout Law.
Safety:
The Scout Association takes the safety of young people very seriously.
All activities are planned and carried out with safety in mind, risk assessments
are completed, equipment is regularly checked and instruction which is
given by qualified Leaders is always of a very high standard. All Leaders
now have to be trained in First Aid and only authorised personnel can
