In
2004 the County organised a huge camping event called Tookay. Hundreds
of Scouts and Guides from around North Yorkshire and the north of England
were involved. The youngsters took part in a great variety of activities
ranging from crafts, quad biking, dry stone walling, pioneering, wind
surfing, sailing, grass sledging, walking, rock climbing, sub-aqua,
kayaking, orienteering, bungee running, IT, radio boats, discos and
campfire lighting to Karaoke and volleyball; and this list is incomplete!
Leaders from the Ingleborough District ran a very successful subcamp
called Loki, which was one of several visited by the then Chief Scout,
George Purdy.

County Scouters provide
training and support for Leaders, as well as a programme of events and activities for all Sections.
This enables both youngsters and adults to benefit from a much wider range of experiences
involving other Districts, Counties and occasionally, other nationalities.
